Muzak

Muzak, known for distributing music to retail and commercial spaces, relied on our expertise to showcase their ability to express brand personalities through audio architecture at GlobalShop, the nation's largest retail trade show, over two years.

Working as design lead and project manager, the studio crafted a 30 x 40 ft space, centered around an "Audio Well," a circular core featuring a daily-themed prop. The Well, enclosed by a semi-transparent curtain, created a private meeting space for Muzak's audio architects and clients. Each day, the well highlighted a different object—such as a rose, martini, or eight ball—repeated around the cylinder for a wallpaper effect, enhanced by matching scents and music. Externally, the booth appeared as a black box with curtains, drawing curiosity and encouraging repeat visits. This design perfectly illustrated Muzak's skill in harmonizing sound with brand identity.

The following year, we repurposed much of the structure to reduce costs, expanding the experience to include a portrait photo session and interview. Attendees later received a custom playlist reflecting their personality. This concept earned "Best in Show Pavilion" by DDI and "Outstanding Booth Design" by VSMD magazine.
